The Mouse Colony program was developed at the University of Illinois in Chicago by Dr. Oscar Colamonici using FileMakerPro software.  The intrinsic difficulties facing researchers today in tracking multiple mouse lines using limited information and resources in time-consuming spreadsheets led Dr. Colamonici to the design of this critical research program.  With over 25 years of performing basic research on Interferons and the cell cycle, Dr. Colamonici has brought this valuable experience to the Mouse Colony program that now creates efficient avenues to reduce the time and expense in managing colonies while increasing the amount of control for the researcher.  Mouse Colony was his solution to the everyday challenges.

The mining of simple yet valuable information, such as fertility and phenotype identification, is at your fingertips, archived and easily referenced, at any point during your research. Different beta versions of Mouse Colony have been utilized in Dr. Colamonici’s lab for over four years now and his collaborators have been using it for the last 2 years.

The extensive testing and continual modification to the Mouse Colony program over the years have allowed Dr. Colamonici’s lab to significantly reduce its mouse expenditures.

Simplified Data Tracking, Inc. (SDT) has licensed Mouse Colony from the University of Illinois and is its exclusive distributor.  Dr. Oscar Colamonici is the Founder of SDT and is committed to producing affordable software solutions for tracking experimental data for the scientific community.
